artPAC Announces 2010 General Election Endorsements
Oregon artPAC invited twelve candidates to respond to its questionnaire. Oregon artPAC evaluated the responses and held follow up interviews at the new Brad Rogers Gallery at 120 NW Ninth Ave.

Ann Lininger and Tom Hughes at artPAC Interviews
Oregon artPAC made the following endorsements encouraging all voters who value the role of arts and culture in our communities to support these candidates with both their votes and dollars:
- Multnomah County Commissioner #2 - Karol Collymore
- Clackamas County Commissioner #2 - Robert J. Austin
- Clackamas County Commissioner #3 - Ann Lininger
- Washington County Commissioner # 2 - Greg Malinowski
- Washington County Commissioner # 4 - Greg Mecklem
- Metro Council President - Tom Hughes
While the first five contests above had clear cut winners, the Metro Council President race presented two very highly energetic, capable and committed candidates and a most difficult decision. Oregon artPAC ultimately gave a slight edge to Tom Hughes with his arts related experience as former Mayor of Hillsboro, but feels that either candidate would serve Metro Council well.
Dudley and Kitzhaber Turn Down Invitations
Oregon artPAC invited the two gubernatorial candidates, Chris Dudley and John Kitzhaber, to respond to a state related arts questionnaire to be followed up by interviews. Both candidates declined the invitations as they had also turned down earlier invitations to participate in a forum sponsored by the statewide Cultural Advocacy Coalition.
Both organizations are disappointed in the candidate’s failure to engage in a conversation about the arts and encourages the eventual winner to value the importance of arts and culture in enhancing the spirit and soul of communities throughout the state and to recognize it as the economic driver that it is.
A Big Yes to CAN!
The Creative Advocacy Network (aka theArtsCAN) is a 501(c)3 organization - a non-profit that is leading the charge for a new dedicated stream of public funding for the arts in our metropolitan region. The mission is simple - increase our region's investment by $15-20 million every year to bring arts and cultural experiences to life for the children and communities that we love.
